Creatively depleted after the biggest year of her career, Charli sublimated herself into the windblown world of Emily Br\u00f6nte\u2019s only novel and found herself unexpectedly inspired. Image Courtesy Of Apple Services<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cI wanted to dive into persona, into a world that felt undeniably raw, wild, sexual, gothic, British, tortured and full of actual real sentences, punctuation and grammar,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWithout a cigarette or a pair of sunglasses in sight, it was all totally other from the life I was currently living.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">If anything, the songs of Wuthering Heights bear a resemblance to the gothic pop of Charli\u2019s 2013 debut album True Romance. Only this time Charli xcx and longtime collaborator Finn Keane counter breathless hooks and heartstring-tugging melodies (\u201cChains of Love,\u201d \u201cDying for You\u201d) with droning strings and bursts of feedback on lead single \u201cHouse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shareasale.com\/u.cfm?d=899735&amp;m=99503&amp;u=1973528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6452\" src=\"http:\/\/streamapse.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/614X190-1_Banner.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"http:\/\/streamapse.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/614X190-1_Banner.jpg 614w, http:\/\/streamapse.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/614X190-1_Banner-300x93.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">There she\u2019s joined by John Cale, formerly of The Velvet Underground, who introduces the haunting track with an ominous spoken-word monologue.
