While the Georgia-born singer-songwriter has always bared his heart through his music, from feeling unlucky in love on Unlearning\u2019s \u201cWill It Find Me\u201d to practicing gratitude on 2021\u2019s \u201cSimple Things,\u201d other layers\u2014fears, anxieties, and insecurities\u2014remained unplumbed.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1), Swims\u2019 full-length debut, embarks on that deeper self-exploration through visceral storytelling. On album opener \u201cSome Things I\u2019ll Never Know,\u201d Swims asks a question to which he doesn\u2019t really want the answer: \u201cWhen did your heart let me go?\u201d Reconciling with a failing relationship over gentle piano, he compares toxic love to addiction on \u201cLose Control,\u201d a bluesy ballad of spiraling vocal runs, wailing electric guitar solos, and pounding drums. Swims breaks the cycle on \u201cThe Door,\u201d reaching a sonic and emotional peak as he belts, \u201cI said I would die for you, baby\/But I can\u2019t take this pain no more.\u201d Here, he doesn\u2019t sing from the soul as much as rip it out and lay it bare, guts and all. The mood turns more subdued with the breezy country guitars of \u201cYou Still Get to Me,\u201d an admission that feelings don\u2019t always end with the breakup.
